Overview
The Kingston and Area Real Estate Association (KAREA) represents over 650 REALTORS® in the Kingston region and surrounding counties, including Frontenac, Lennox and Addington, and Leeds. Established over 80 years ago as a not-for-profit organization, KAREA provides members with MLS® System access and advocates for ethical practices, professional development, and community-focused initiatives.
KAREA emphasizes leadership and support for its members, fostering professional excellence through continuing education and adherence to strict standards set by the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) and Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA). The association also promotes housing affordability and sustainable development across its jurisdictional area, which includes rural, lakeside, and urban communities.
Notably, KAREA engages in community outreach, organizing volunteer efforts such as REALTORS Care® Days to address food insecurity. Members partner with local charities like the Food Sharing Project and Morningstar Mission, packing meals and supporting vulnerable populations. Additionally, KAREA participates in fundraising events, including holiday food drives and recreational tournaments, to benefit local causes.
In 2024, KAREA joined the Ontario Regional Technology & Information Systems (ORTIS), expanding MLS® data access across 20 member associations. This integration enhances regional collaboration, streamlines professional standards, and improves consumer access to province-wide listings.
By balancing advocacy, member education, and community service, KAREA strengthens both the real estate industry and the broader Kingston area, ensuring a resilient and inclusive housing market.
