What is a “Slug”?

A “slug” is the part of the page’s URL that comes after the domain name.

One of the first things to do in setting up RealtyVis is to decide on which pages your widgets will be placed.

By default, RealtyVis assumes the Map Search widget is setup on the /search page and the Listing Detail widget is setup on the /listing page. So for example, if the domain of your website is www.example.com, your site might be structured using the above values:

https://www.example.comHome page of your real estate website with Search Box Block for quick location lookup and Featured Listings Block showcasing your own current active listings.
https://www.example.com/searchA map showing nearby real estate listings using Map Search Block
https://www.example.com/listingA placeholder page that holds the Listing Detail Block which is used by other RealtyVis Blocks to display details of a single listing.

Notice for SquareSpace users:

Because “/search” is a reserved page in SquareSpace, you must choose another slug to place your Map SearchBlock besides “/search“.

When do you need to customize the slug?

If you or your platform had already used the /search and /listing pages for another purpose (ie: SquareSpace), then you need to create another page.

Instructions

Once you have decided where the RealtyVis widgets go, you can set the slugs by going to the Setup tab of the RealtyVis admin and scrolling down to the “Navigation” section.

Then, you can type in the desired slug to use and click “Save changes” to update the information.
